Helikon Festival - What is it?

The name Helikon Festival is a well-known concept in Hungary. Count George Festetics organized the very first Helikon Festival for arts in 1817 with the participation of distinctive writers and poets of his time. Almost two hundred years later these festivals are organized every two years with the participation of about 4500-5000 young people in the provinces of West-Hungary. Productions are divided in eighteen categories of arts: literature, theater, music (folks, light, classical, choir), dance (folks, ballet, modern), fine arts, film-video, etc.
